How to set up the IPTV guide (EPG)

The EPG (electronic programme guide) is the now/next and 7-day schedule. Most players load it automatically from your subscription, but some need a nudge.

1 — Add the EPG URL

If the guide is empty:

1. Open the player's Settings → TV Guide / EPG.
2. Find EPG URL / XMLTV URL / Add EPG source.
3. Paste the EPG URL from your welcome email. (It's different from your playlist URL.)
4. Save.

Some players (TiviMate, others) also accept multiple EPG sources and merge them — one source is fine for most people.

2 — Set the time zone

A guide that's shifted by several hours = wrong time zone.

• In the player's EPG settings, set your zone: America/Vancouver, America/Edmonton, America/Regina, America/Winnipeg, America/Toronto, America/Halifax, America/St_Johns.
• Some players use a UTC offset instead (e.g. −5 for Eastern, −8 for Pacific; adjust for daylight time).

3 — Refresh

• Trigger Refresh EPG / Update guide manually.
• Give it 2–10 minutes on a first full download.
• Set auto-refresh to every 12–24 hours so it stays current.

4 — Fix channels with no data

If most channels have a guide but some don't:

• Enable automatic channel-ID matching if the player offers it.
• Otherwise, map the blank channel manually: edit the channel, and pick the matching guide ID from the list.
• Some international feeds simply don't publish schedule data — there's nothing to map. The channel still plays; it just shows "No information".

5 — Catch-up and reminders

Once the EPG is working:

• Catch-up: on supported channels, open a past programme in the guide and choose Play / Watch from start (up to 7 days back).
• Reminders: highlight a future programme and set a reminder so the player prompts you when it starts.
