IPTV on Samsung & LG Smart TV
If your TV runs a compatible app, you can watch IPTVSMART with no extra hardware. Here's how to tell, and what to do if your model isn't supported.
A Smart TV is the tidiest setup — no stick hanging off the back, one remote. The catch is that Samsung and LG only allow apps from their own stores, and the IPTV player selection there changes.
Will your TV work?
| TV | Notes |
|---|---|
| Samsung (Tizen), 2018 or newer | Usually fine. Compatible IPTV players are available in the Samsung store; the recommended one is in your welcome email. |
| LG (webOS), 2018 or newer | Usually fine. Similar story via LG Content Store. |
| Samsung / LG 2016–2017 | Hit and miss. Player apps may be missing or unstable. |
| Android TV / Google TV models (Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense) | These aren't "Samsung/LG Smart TV" — see the Android TV page. They're generally easier. |
| Roku TV | Roku's IPTV support is limited. A Fire TV Stick in the HDMI port is the reliable route. |
The honest test: open your TV's app store, search for the player named in your welcome email, and see if it installs.
What you need
- Your Smart TV connected to the internet (wired is better — most TVs have an Ethernet port).
- The recommended player app from the Samsung or LG store.
- Your IPTVSMART username, password and server URL, or a login code.
Installing (overview)
- From the TV's app store, install the recommended player.
- Open it and note the device MAC address or device key it shows, if it asks.
- Enter your server URL, username and password, or add the playlist via the provider's website using the on-screen code.
- Wait for the guide to load, then set Favourites.
The IBO Player guides cover Samsung and LG step by step.
If your model isn't supported
Don't fight it. A Fire TV Stick 4K or a small Android TV box in a spare HDMI port gives you a better, faster experience than a marginal native app, for around $50. Your subscription is the same; only the device changes.
Common issues
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Player app not in the store | Your model/region may not offer it — use a Fire TV Stick or Android box |
| App installs but won't play | Update the TV firmware; restart the TV fully (unplug for 30 seconds) |
| Buffering | Use the TV's Ethernet port; check evening speed; see troubleshooting |
| Guide missing data | Force an EPG refresh in the app's settings |
