IPTV on iPhone & iPad
Good for watching on the move, in another room, or as the easiest way to feed your playlist to an Apple TV. Set-up takes two minutes.
An iPhone or iPad is the quickest device to get running, and a handy second screen — watch in bed, in the kitchen, or on hotel Wi-Fi. It's also the simplest way to load a playlist onto an Apple TV.
What you need
- iPhone or iPad on iOS / iPadOS 15 or newer.
- A player app from the App Store (your welcome email names the current pick; a good paid player is a few dollars).
- Your IPTVSMART login — or just the QR code we include in the welcome email.
Installing (overview)
- Install the recommended player from the App Store.
- Choose add playlist and either:
- scan the QR code from your welcome email (fastest), or
- enter the server URL, username and password manually.
- Let the guide load. Add Favourites.
- To watch on the TV, use AirPlay from the player, or sign in on the matching Apple TV app and let it sync.
Watching on mobile data
- Canadian carriers throttle video on many plans; expect SD-to-HD, not 4K, on cellular.
- In the player settings you can cap the streaming quality on mobile data to control usage.
- HD uses roughly 2 GB per hour — watch your cap on long sessions.
- Wi-Fi is strongly preferred for sport.
Performance tips
- On Wi-Fi, 5 GHz and proximity to the router matter as much as on a TV.
- Enable hardware decoding in the player.
- Background app refresh off for the player can help older iPhones stay responsive.
Common issues
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| QR scan does nothing | Enter details manually; check the code isn't expired (trial codes are time-limited) |
| Stops when screen locks | Enable background audio/playback in the player's settings, or keep the screen on |
| AirPlay stutters | AirPlay adds a hop — for reliable TV playback use an Apple TV app directly |
| Poor quality on cellular | Expected; raise the mobile quality cap or switch to Wi-Fi |
